About this event

Visiting or looking for experiences in Canberra with a young baby? Babies in Arms is a relaxed program designed for parents, and carers who want to enjoy the National Gallery of Australia at a comfortable pace with their baby. This gentle program offers a calm space where babies can explore tactile materials on a soft rug while adults enjoy an easy introduction to the Gallery's collection. Informal, engaging conversations with National Gallery curators provide insights into works of art an accessible way—no art background or prior visits required. The Gallery is welcoming and family‑friendly. Breastfeeding and bottle feeding are welcomed throughout the building, and a Parents Room is available on Level 1. Babies may be carried in a soft baby carrier worn on the front or back, with limited pram parking located close to the program area. To make your visit as smooth as possible while travelling, small bags (up to 30 × 30 cm) may be carried by your side, and lockers are available for larger items. Friendly Gallery staff are on hand to assist with bag tags or directions during your visit. Babies in Arms is best suited to young, non‑mobile babies, offering a peaceful and enjoyable experience that can be easily included as part of a day exploring Canberra's national attractions.
