ephemeral architecture explores the complex natural and synthetic systems of the world, making visible the intangible language of these often unseen structures. It considers how digital technology has become something both created by humans and operating beyond human control, forming vast invisible infrastructures that shape how people move through, see and understand the world.
Although artificial, these webs of information begin to mimic organic forms as humans attempt to contextualise their scale. Like creeping mycelium or reaching root systems, this reflects a desire to humanise the machine – a silicon-based life form.
Connections form between system diagrams, machine vision data and biological formations, blurring the boundaries between organic and digital networks. The exhibition invites viewers to consider where the distinction between natural and unnatural lies within this grey area.
