Child Players Local Legends Filmmaking Program is for young people in Year 9 and above.
No previous filmmaking experience is required. This program is designed for young people who want to make things, meet people and build their confidence as storytellers. Microphones, tripods and editing computers will be provided. Participants only need access to a smartphone.
Across ten Sunday afternoons in Term 4, 2026, participants will learn how to find, shoot and edit real stories using their own phones and professional editing software.
This is a practical program: participants will make a new film each week before working in small crews to create a 3–5 minute documentary celebrating a "local legend" who has made a difference in their community. The final films will premiere at a public screening on the last week of the program.
