ICHOR is a visceral physical theatre work exploring identity, instinct, and the tension between authenticity and societal expectation.
Created by physical theatre company TOI, the work centres Ichor, a being existing in a state beyond happiness or sadness – a place of simple presence and peace. But when confronted by his first survival instinct, he is thrust into an unfamiliar world of emotion, sensation and self-awareness.
Drawing on research into masculine traits and their evolution throughout human history, TOI deconstructs the animalistic impulses that remain within us all. Through a powerful physical vocabulary, ICHOR examines the struggle of accepting one's true self while navigating the expectations, limitations, and identities imposed by society.
