About this event

Wayfarers Australia's 2026 flagship Canberra concert, Musica Vitae, takes us through the major eras of western choral music - Mediaeval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic and 20th century, including several traditional and Afro-American favourites. Pieces by three contemporary Australian composers - Liam Waterford, Ruth McCall and Stephen Leek showcase recent and innovative choral techniques.

The second half of the programme includes the most recent major composition by Judith Clingan AM, The Prophet (2023-2024). It presents settings of seven segments of Kahlil Gibran's poetical philosophy for voices and instrumental ensemble.

The Wayfarers choir's Canberra chapter is an eclectic group of about 40 singers from age seven upwards from all over NSW and ACT. They will be joined for this performance by a lovely instrumental ensemble of professional and near-professional players of strings, wind and percussion.

All proceeds from this event will be donated to Love Works Africa, an Australian-registered charity. Love Works Africa partners with local communities and trusted leaders to care for vulnerable children and families in rural Zambia. Zambian handicrafts will be on sale, and the director of Love Works Africa will present a talk on their work during the interval.
