About this event

For over 180 years, St John's has been celebrating the arrival of spring. They're proud to once again participate in Floriade About Town.

As Australia's biggest celebration of spring opens, visitors are invited to explore one of Canberra's oldest parks, serenaded by the glorious ringing of the St John's bells. The bellringers will showcase spring-themed songs and traditional peals. Listen out for some fun movie soundtracks. The bells can be heard from Commonwealth Park – it's one of Canberra's loudest musical instruments!

Explore the historic precinct while the sound of the bells floats across the capital. Discover the intimate Rose Garden and the Magnolia Elizabeth tree planted to mark Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee. Wander into the church to soak up the atmosphere, admiring the beautiful stained glass, historical treasures and magnificent organ. The Schoolhouse Museum – Canberra's first school – will throw open its doors to showcase what life was like as a child in rural Australia in the 1840s.

All donations on the day will go to St John's Care, helping Canberrans in need this spring.
