Using inspiring landscapes as a starting point, this immersive three-day workshop is designed for artists of all levels who want to develop their landscape painting skills. Working from sketches and photographs, you'll create one or two paintings, depending on your pace, while receiving personalised, one-on-one guidance from Alicja throughout the workshop.
Weather permitting, spend time outdoors exploring the local landscape, sketching and photographing inspiring scenes. You're also encouraged to bring your own landscape photographs as additional reference material. Back in the studio, use these images to develop strong compositions and expressive paintings.
Throughout the workshop, you'll explore practical colour theory, including colour mixing, warm and cool colour relationships, tonal values, and the use of neutrals and semi-neutrals. You'll also develop confidence with mark-making and a variety of brushwork techniques using either acrylics or oils.
Paintings will be built in layers, beginning with loose, energetic marks before gradually refining the work to create depth, atmosphere and focus. This approach encourages expressive underpainting while achieving a resolved final painting.
